Applications / Gold Recovery
Coconut Shell Activated Carbon for Gold Recovery (6×12 Mesh)
Granular coconut shell activated carbon for carbon-in-pulp (CIP) and carbon-in-leach (CIL) circuits, supplied from Indonesia in 4×8, 6×12, and 8×30 mesh fractions.
How activated carbon is used in CIP and CIL
In CIP and CIL circuits, granular activated carbon is mixed with the leached slurry. Dissolved gold cyanide complex adsorbs onto the carbon, which is then screened out of the pulp, eluted, and reactivated for reuse. Coconut shell carbon is widely used because it is hard and rich in small pores.
Why 6×12 mesh
Granular carbon must be large enough to be separated from the pulp by screens, and small enough to adsorb quickly. 6×12 mesh is a common fraction for these circuits. 4×8 and 8×30 are also available. Confirm the right size against your screen apertures and residence time.
Specifications that matter
- Iodine number indicates how developed the small pores are. Baseline: 1,200+ mg/g.
- Hardness matters because carbon circulates between tanks and must resist abrasion. Baseline: ≥ 98%.
- Moisture ≤ 5% and ash ≤ 3%.
- Batch-specific quality is verified through a Certificate of Analysis (COA).
Test before you commit
Iodine number does not directly measure gold loading. We recommend a trial or a gold-activity test in your own laboratory with your ore and pulp conditions. Tell us your process details and we can discuss a sample for evaluation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you supply 6×12 activated carbon for gold recovery?
Yes. 6×12 is one of our available mesh fractions, alongside 4×8 and 8×30. Specifications can be tailored to your application.
Is iodine number enough to choose carbon for CIP or CIL?
No. Iodine number is one indicator. Hardness, particle size, and a trial with your own pulp matter as well.
Can I request a sample?
Yes. Sample and quality review is part of our order process. Use the Request a Quote form and describe your application.
What documents are provided?
Product specifications and a Certificate of Analysis per batch, according to commercial requirements.
