Applications / Water Treatment
Coconut Shell Activated Carbon for Water Treatment
Granular coconut shell activated carbon for drinking water, process water, and wastewater polishing, supplied from Indonesia.
Where it is used
- Drinking water and process water treatment
- Removal of chlorine, taste, and odor
- Removal of dissolved organic compounds
- Polishing of treated wastewater
Mesh options
- 4×8 (coarse): typically lower pressure drop, suited to large beds and higher flow rates.
- 6×12 (medium): a balanced choice for many filter beds.
- 8×30 (fine): typically faster adsorption, with higher pressure drop.
Key parameters
Iodine number indicates small-pore development (baseline 1,200+ mg/g). Hardness (≥ 98%) reduces breakage and fines in service. Moisture is ≤ 5% and ash ≤ 3%. Contact time, flow rate, and the contaminant in your water decide the right grade.
Limits of use
Activated carbon removes many dissolved organics, chlorine, taste, and odor, but it does not remove every contaminant. Suspended solids should be filtered upstream, and dissolved salts, many metals, and microorganisms need other treatment steps. Carbon becomes saturated over time and must be replaced or reactivated. If your project requires a specific drinking-water standard, tell us before ordering so we can review the documentation together.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which mesh size is best for water treatment?
It depends on flow rate, bed design, and allowable pressure drop. 6×12 is a common starting point. Share your system details and we can recommend a fraction.
Can I get a sample for testing?
Yes. Sample and quality review is part of our order process. Use the Request a Quote form.
Is it suitable for drinking water?
Requirements vary by country and project. Share your requirement and we will confirm which documentation we can provide.
